Hello! My name is Jill, and I’m a nurse with over 12 years of experience in the field. Ever since I could walk, I’ve been caring for people around me. I knew I would be a nurse as soon as I learned what a nurse was! I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I moved to Michigan to go to college, and that’s where I work and live today. When I’m not at the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my children. We love camping, hiking and snowmobiling in the winter.
I created this site out of love. I have seen too many of my fellow nurses suffer because of ill-fitting and uncomfortable shoes. I found out as soon as I started nursing school that shoes are important! In fact, I found out the hard way on my first day of nursing school.
I had purchased a pair of white shoes just as we had been instructed by our professors. But I thought I could save some money, so I purchased a very cheap pair of flat, thin-soled shoes. When I got home, my feet hurt so bad that I could hardly walk. I soaked my feet that night and vowed to take better care of them in the future.
To accomplish this, I did like I’ve done with many things in my life. I made a project out of it. I compiled as much information as I could about how the proper shoes should fit when you need to be standing all day. I went to countless shoe stores and tried on hundreds of pairs of shoes. Finally, I had a good idea of the shoes and brands that were the best.
I’m now known as the shoe lady around the hospital where I work. I have a running list of the absolute best shoes for people who stand all day for their work. Finally, after many of my co-workers pushing me, I’ve compiled my list here for you to benefit from. I hope that you are able to use the information I’ve provided to find shoes that will offer you stability, comfort and support throughout your long days on the job. Thank you again for visiting my site!
