Best Asics Running Shoes Reviewed & Rated for Performance

Running… something we do everyday. Whether we are running to a meeting or to catch a bus, running is a pillar of any physical activity.  So, if you find yourself running a bit farther than that meeting or the bus, you need to be smart, informed and aware of what you put on your feet.  A runner’s foot is the piece that connects our body to the road much like your car’s tire to the highway beneath.

Each different kind of vehicle today has their own type of tires based on the style of driving, vehicle size and the terrain it will be on.  Your shoes are like tires…they need to be exactly what you need to be the best runner you can be.

Choosing a running shoe can often be such a demanding, dizzying and frustrating event that we do one of two things: we either keep running in them well beyond their expiration date or we stick to one shoe (despite the ever changing designs of the same shoe) in order to NOT have to sort through all of the colors, designs, uses and prices.

The 10 Best Asics Shoe reviews are exactly what you need to read in order to get you back on the right foot.  Whether you are, or are not an Asics owner, there is enough information in this list to either keep you in the family or perhaps show you where and how your current running shoe is failing.

7. ASICS GEL-Noosa Tri 9 GS

7. ASICS GEL-Noosa Tri 9 GS
The first of two kids shoes in this review. Not sure how ANY kid would not want to wear these shoes just based on the crazy colors and abundant reflective parts! The fact that this shoe is based on the sport of Triathlon, I am convinced that it is mostly because of the loud color combinations. We all know Triathletes are a flashy lot! A well designed shoe for the younger runner given the seamless construction providing a new feel on the feet than a regular runner. At this age, young runners need to “want” to put on the shoes they will be running in… the GEL- Noosa provides that feeling.
Expand to see more
Fits like a glove
...for your feet of course. Comfort in a shoe at this young age is paramount...stability and durability are a distant second given the shorter distances kids endure. The seamless feature is as important to a young athlete as it is to our Olympic hopefuls.

Catchy Colors and Design
Let’s face it, we all have a flashy side. But kids most importantly need to be drawn to something and flashy fresh colors and reflective material is a home run with the young crowd.

Cost and Value
A shoe is a shoe (be it an adult shoe or kids shoe) in the running world. This shoe is well priced for both what you get and how long it will last. They will surely grow out of it before it wears out.
Pros
  • Colors galore!
  • Reflective strips
  • Seamless construction
  • Cushioning is well established in this unique line.
  • Great for all around use, not just running or Triathlon
Cons
  • Will notice wear if worn by adult with small feet
  • Colors if you are shy timid type

8. ASICS Animal Pack

8. ASICS Animal Pack
The second of two kids shoes in this review. Before Asics jumped into the young child/ toddler shoe race, shoes this sweet have never been seen! This new “Animal Pack” collection offers kids many of the features that their parents have been privileged to experience with their collection of Asics shoes. Let’s be honest though... there is no need for much of the technology, GEL or seamless sock-like feel that the older runners require. This is a series of shoes that provide the comfort, durability and support kids need in all of their outdoor adventures.
Expand to see more
Durability
Kids are tough on shoes: FACT. So why not build a fun looking, kid-appealing shoe that is based on a lineage of craftsmanship and quality. Animal Pack is not just fluff...it was designed to survive the daily rigours kids put their shoes through.

Pros
  • Attractive design
  • Many animals choices for all tastes
  • Durability
  • Insole measuring system
  • Kids can wear anytime, any activity

  • Not made in adult sizes!

9. ASICS GEL-Surveyor 3

9. ASICS GEL-Surveyor 3
When you think of this shoe, think of a 757 Airliner... but the First Class cabin only. This is an enhanced cushioning sturdy dependable shoe that will be there when you need it. A slightly modified version of the GEL Surveyor 2, the Surveyor 3 provides the moderate overpronator with stable structure and stamina their runs will demand. Taking advantage of the technology in house, the GEL Surveyor 3 is comprised with many of the options seen in other Asics models.

Overpronators Delight
When you overpronate, you need the support under foot and around your foot. The GEL Surveyor 3 is built with this in mind. The Dynamic Duomax System™ increases stability and support without adding weight.

Matching Upper
With the 747 underfoot, the luxury of breathable mesh, ComfortDry™ sockliner and removable foam footbed spells First Class luxury in many ways. Complimenting the rugged structured base with theses comfort amenities is certainly a perfect pairing for any runner.

Cost and Value
Your bang for your buck or mile for your money goes a long way here! Low to mid range in its price range, you get many features that a good number of Asics higher priced shoes are designed around.
Pros
  • Lots of stability for the overpronator
  • Function meets comfort as matched priorities.
  • Durability for the long haul
  • Long lasting outer soles
  • Understated dark colors for the quiet runner

10. ASICS GEL-FujiTrabuco 4

10. ASICS GEL-FujiTrabuco 4
Alas, a trail running shoe in the Top 10 Asics shoe list… haza! With the increased popularity of trail running, it is nice to see the time and talent Asics has put into these shoes. The GEL Fuji Trabuco 4 is the 4th generation of this model with some serious improvements. It runs with a perfect balanced blend of cushioning, versatile traction and responsiveness... ALL things a trail runner desires. Add to that the much needed Rock Protection Plate and voila, many of the bases are already covered.
Expand to see more
Mono-Sock™
This is the first we are talking of this technology. A HUGE improvement in this model, the Mono-Sock™ provides for a more comfortable foot hugging upper that extends the expiration date of our sensitive trail running feet on those long runs.

Grip, grip and more grip
These offroad runners will make you as agile as many of the animals we see on the trails. The reverse lug pattern design on the Trail-Specific outer sole is exactly what a trail runner relies on to keep them upright and forward moving. Confidence is instilled the second your laces are done up.

Cost and Value
Decently priced, the only factor that you need to keep in mind is that you may be buying new trails shoes sooner than you would regular road running kicks. That said, they are built tougher and even more durable than your usual runner. An enigma for sure... just something to remember when crossing over to the off road world.
Pros
  • Fits like a second sock
  • Instill confidence from the first step
  • GREAT colors if you like ‘em flashy
  • Rock plate is a must have
  • Great traction on all surfaces
Cons
  • Wider toe box not loved by all
  • Sizing difficulties noted

Like a motorcycle racer’s tire or a head chef’s ingredients of their signature dish…shoes are the lifeblood of us runners.  Without them we would literally not be running very far.  The right shoe can be the difference of seconds off your 5km time or minutes off your marathon time.  The right shoe can also mean the difference between wanting to go for a day ending jog or finding that excuse stopping you from lacing up.  You may not know it, but that bad run may not be because of you or your day…it could be because you either need a new shoe or a slight size, shape or style adjustment to your current shoe.

Whatever you wear, this “10 Best Asics Running Shoe” list is here JUST for you.

Run happy!
