Vans UltraRange Review Facts

The Vans UltraRange is the perfect choice for individuals who prefer to have that extra level of comfort and durability in the designs of their shoes. While the initial Vans skate shoe lines have all featured designs that allowed for an amazing level of functionality when used in a skating environment, the designs of the UltraRange variations are meant to go that extra mile. These shoes feature technologies that have never before been seen in the design of a Vans sneaker before and thus provide wearers with what they need in the environment of their choice; these shoes are just what that die-hard skater ordered.

Outsole

The outsole of the Vans UltraRange has a design that’s intended to give wearers the grip that they need on a variety of surfaces. With that being said, the design of the outsole makes use of an inverted waffle design; the inverted waffle pattern allows the wearer to really dig into their surface of choice and reduces the worry that they have when engaging in any sort of gravity-defying movement. For instance, when wearers decide to do a kickflip or something of the like, they no longer have to worry about their shoes suddenly slipping from underneath the board.

Midsole

The midsole of the Vans UltraRange is designed in such a way that wearers receive exactly what it is that they need in regards to cushioning. Before we move any further, it’s rather important to note the lack of cushioning that the material in the outsole of the previous iterations of the Vans skate shoes provided; while they were comfortable, they didn’t provide wearers with as much cushioning as they could’ve. The technology incorporated into the design of the midsole of the UltraRange is referred to as the UltraCush LITE. It basically provides an extreme level of energy return and ensures that the comfort that’s provided to the wearer is of the highest degree possible.

Upper

The construction of the upper on the UltraRange differs considerably from that of the previous iterations of the Vans line of shoes. For starters, the design of the shoe makes use of a sock-like construction aptly named LUXLINER. This material hugs one’s feet, effectively making the shoe feel incredibly comfortable when in use. In addition to the use of a sock-liner in the design of these shoes, they also make use of mesh in their design. The mesh ensures that wearers have what they need in terms fo airflow from the design and reduce the chance of overheating while in use; for that active individual, this can be the difference between discomfort and comfort.

Weight

The Vans UltraRange is a shoe that has a design meant to provide wearers with an ultra-lightweight feel. This is made possible the by the use of various different extremely lightweight materials in the design of the shoe. For instance, the sole of the shoe is made from Vans’ lightweight cushioning material UltraCush; this material has a composition of foam materials and thus manages to weigh relatively little when on foot. In addition to the UltraCush in the midsole of the shoe, the design of the upper makes use of mesh; as we all know, this material is something that will consistently provide wearers with a lightweight feel. With that being said, one of the major contributors to the lightweight feel provided by the upper of the UltraRange is the fact that the upper features relatively few, if any overlays (there is a single layer of material that makes up the upper of the shoe and it features limited amounts of cushioning.

Breathability

One of the great things about having a shoe that makes use of a single layer of mesh in it’s design is that it allows the shoe to be incredibly breathable. Now, this varies with the model of UltraRange that’s purchased but, for the most part, this will continue to hold true for every pair of the shoe that’s purchased. The addition of the LUXLINER material in the design of the upper contributes greatly to the feeling of airflow that the design of the upper allows it’s wearers to have as well; the material works wonders as a moisture wicking agent.

Comfort

One of the accolades of the UltraRange is that the shoe provides wearers with an extremely comfortable feel when in use. The design of the shoe is one that allows wearers to have what they need in terms of comfort due to the use of both the UltraCush in the midsole of the shoe and the LUXLINER upper. The UltraCush midsole foam provides wearers with an incredibly supportive feel due to the cushioning abilities that the material itself holds. While it may not look like it from the outside, the material that makes up the midsole conforms easily to the print that the underfoot leaves in the design; this is one of the main reasons why the shoe provides wearers with what they need in terms of comfort for such a long period of time. This cushioning will definitely come in handy when the shoe is worn for long lengths of time on a skateboard; unlike previous models, these shoes don’t deal damage on the underfoot of the wearer. The upper, on the other hand, is slightly cushioned and malleable, allowing it to provide insane levels of comfort to the foot.

Style

When it comes to style, the design of the UltraRange has begun to venture slightly from the design of that provided by the typical Vans. For starters, the UltraRange features a design that makes use of bit more stitch marks in the upper; this goes away from that provided by the typical Vans shoe simply because of the one-piece construction that these shoes had. Outside of the differences that these shoes have from the original Vans series, they still manage to be relatively stylish. The shoes still have the typical sleek design that Vans is known for; the big difference is that these shoes manage to come off as sleek while having a bit more weight on them.

Durability

One of the things that the design of the Vans UltraRange was actually designed to do is to provide wearers with a bit more longevity while their shoes are in use. The LUXLINER material that makes up the upper of this shoe is meant to be rather durable and last during those more involved tricks. With that being said, the sole purpose of this shoe is that it was meant to provide wearers with a level of wearability on and off of the board; shoes have a habit of getting beaten up easily when used during athletic activities, this shoe works to prevent that.

Protection

The design of this shoe is one that actually manages to provide wearers with what they need in order to function when on a skateboard; the shoe is meant for use on a skateboard and thus, has technology that allows for an adequate level of grip. The design of the outsole of this shoe( something that will be touched on a bit more as we make our way through this list) is meant to provide wearers with the security that they’d need in order to effectively handle themselves on a skateboard without having to worry about slipping off.

Responsiveness

Well, both the upper and the sole unit of this shoe are things that provide wearers with a responsive feel. Despite the heavy-duty look of the upper on the shoe, it manages to provide wearers with what they need in terms of ease of movement on a regular basis. The design of the upper in this shoe is one that makes use of a mesh material and thus moves easily and allows for the range of motion that one would need when the shoe is used in the area of the wearer’s choice, the board. In addition to this, the midsole of the shoe provides wearers with an adequately responsive feel as well. Keep in mind though, that this is a skateboarding shoe and won’t provide an extreme level of flexibility during use.

Support

One of the great things about the design of the UltraRange being relatively sleek is that it will provide wearers with a relatively supportive feel during use. Much like its predecessors, the UltraRange has an upper design that provides wearers with what they need in terms of support for the sides of their feet quite easily. The midsole and the UltraCush LITE foam allows the shoe to provide wearers with what they need in terms of support as well; the material conforms quite easily to the design of the wearer's foot due to the cushioning and provides adequate arch support for various foot types.

Terrain

Well, due to the fact that these shoes are designed for use during either skateboarding or walking it would be safe to say that the UltraRange works best on developed surfaces. One thing to keep in mind is that the design of the outsole on the UltraRange is one that is meant to have a substantial amount of grip and will manage to provide wearers with the functionality that they need on whatever type of skateboard that they choose to ride; this is one of the great things about the waffle pattern in the shoe’s design.

Price

Keeping in line with the price ranges that Vans shoes typically go for, the Vans UltraRange is definitely not expensive. In fact, the price of the actual shoe and the functionality as well as longevity that it manages to provide to wearers are somewhat mismatched; there are very many shoes that provide such a high level of functionality for such a reasonable price. The technology incorporated into the design of the shoe is another thing to keep in mind when referring to the price; the initial Vans models sold for a similar price but didn’t feature the same technologies as this shoe does.

Traction

One of the things that the UltraRange is known for is the durability that the shoe provides to its wearers, another is the grip that the outsole of the shoe manages to provide to its wearers with what they need in terms of security when the shoe is used on a skateboard; again, this is one of those things that simply can’t be overlooked when considering it’s features. If you’re looking for a shoe that will function to provide you with what you need on and off of the board, this is the shoe to consider.

Stability

The heavy-duty design of the shoe is one that will provide wearers with what they need in terms of stability while in use. The shoe provides wearers with a snug fit due to the use of the LUXLINER material’s use; the snug fit provides by the upper adds a level of security to the design. The security provided by the upper ensures that wearers have what they need in terms of stability and works in tandem with the solid side-walls of the midsole of the shoe.

Drop

No drop has been specifies for the shoe but, it appears to be almost non-existent. The drop of the shoe shouldn’t significantly impair one’s experience while in the UltraRange.

Key Features

• UltraCush LITE midsole
• LUXLINER upper
• Inverted waffle outsole

Verdict

The UltraRange shoe is major switch-up from the standard Van design. This shoe is for that individual who would like a bit of wear-time outside of the skatepark; they have the heavy duty design that allows wearers to make use of them for various different events. In addition to the heavy-duty design that these shoes feature, they also provide wearers with what they need in terms of savings; the longevity of the shoe itself coupled with the low pricing point provides a decent level of value to the wearer of the shoe. So, what are you waiting for, if you want a shoe that is both comfortable and long-lived, give the UltraRange a try.
